Did the transaction actually show in your paypal account activity?
When you clicked on the transaction to report a problem which dispute type did you open?
Did you wait 7 days before escalating to a claim or did it close before that?
How was the bogus transaction funded via paypal?
Have you checked in here.....
Check if you had a subscription set up and cancel it?
Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > "manage pre-approved payments.''
Have you answered a spoof of fake paypal message at all recently or given away a code to a third party?
When you got the 'message' was it an email or message and did you click any links or phone a phone number on that message or link?
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Yeah, Paypal is crooked. Just had them deny my dispute against a company that scammed me 3 days ago. They found in favor of the seller that sent me toys instead of what I had ordered. The items were sent back as instructed by Paypal after get tinting them involved. Paypal played around for 3 months with no resolution, but kept asking for further information, which I provided each time. Now, it seems that these thieves intend to run out the clock on the 10 day window for appeals (their own policy on length of time). I contacted Paypal 2 days ago and I AM STILL WAITING FOR A REPLY! Seems like Paypal is in bed with scammers to me...
