Hi all,
I'm about to buy 2 camera lenses off facebook marketplace. The seller and I have agreed to ship it out with shipping protection too through the parcel carrier. The seller looks 95% legit--he has multiple social media accounts across Instagram and Facebook with corresponding photos and has plenty of legitimate activity since 2021. All of his previous listings also appear to be legit, however, he has two one-star reviews from people who say that they never received their item after paying him. HOWEVER, those two people look like fake accounts since the profile pictures aren't of real people and are likely screenshots from the internet and their descriptions of how they were scammed were in vague, broken English. The seller also has about 8 5-star reviews dating back to 2021 as well.
Anyways, in the small case that this guy is actually a scammer, how can I protect myself and make sure I can get a refund later down the road? Do I have to mark my payment as "goods" like I've seen some people say in this forum?

That depends on many factors all listed in Paypals buyer protection policy for you to read so you can risk assess your transactions.
Legal (bottom right of Paypals pages) > user agreement > buyer protection.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I've just read over the policy and acceptable use policy. The items I plan on buying are allowed, and the seller will be shipping them through a notable delivery service and provide tracking. I forgot to mention that this deal will be taking place in the United States only. The total transaction amount exceeds $750, and thus I will need to get a confirmation signature upon delivery. I think everything checks out--am I missing anything?
