Bank/PayPal Chargeback Dispute

Hello,

I have been on the phone with both my bank and PayPal for hours since Friday and I'm running around in circles while each party blames the other so I'm trying my luck here. On January 26th, I made a purchase of £7,99 from an application I use called Discord. I used PayPal for the payment and my linked bank account was the funding source. Payment went through and all was fine for a few days. On February 2nd I received multiple emails, firstly from PayPal to say my bank informed them I had requested a chargeback and my account had been limited, then from Discord to say my account had been banned and disabled because of the chargeback.

I did not initiate any kind of chargeback. I contacted my bank who couldn't even see the transaction on my account at first but eventually they were able to determine that PayPal attempted to use a 'dormant' direct channel reference for the transaction. They advised this happens often and PayPal then mistakenly blame the customer/bank for a chargeback. I tried to explain this to PayPal who advised they receive a communication from my bank that a chargeback had been requested but could not provide me proof of this due to 'security reasons'.

My bank have actually gone out of their way to provide me with evidence that supports their claims where PayPal haven't, they just keep repeating the same thing. The fact that the money never even left my account also supports my bank's claims. Discord have advised my account will remain banned until the 'chargeback is withdrawn'. I have asked PayPal can we push the payment through with a different method and they advised this is not possible. I then asked could they notify Discord that no chargeback and was made and they said they cannot do that without an official communication from Danske Bank and that the screenshots of my conversation with my bank is not sufficient. My bank do not know how to contact PayPal.

Is there anything I can do? I feel so helpless that 2 companies as big as Danske and PayPal can't get it together to resolve this.
