Has anyone had success returning an items that an unethical seller did a bait and switch? I ordered what was described as AAAA Quality South Sea Pearls and received plastic painted pearl like item. The seller acknowledged that they were not as described in writing and said “ they still have value” and expensive to ship back. I requested a return label and the seller then tried to offer me pennys to the dollar vs the cost paid stating it was too expensive to send back. The resolution team seems to be siding with the seller since I won’t pay to ship them back. This is ridiculous and truly bait and switch why would PayPal allow such vendors?

In the event of a dispute you choose your seller and not Paypal so you need to bear in mind possible return trackable costs before you go ahead and buy from that seller / country.
Paypal state this >>
IMPORTANT: You may be required to return the item to the seller or other party we specify as part of the settlement of your claim. PayPal Buyer Protection does not entitle you to reimbursement for the return shipping costs that you may incur.
You also have the option to do a chargeback via your card issuer instead of a Paypal dispute if you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

The issue with some of them is that they advertise as US-based companies. In fact, when the fake item arrives, it comes from a US mailing address.
When going through the PayPal claim process. The scammer provides a China mailing address and offers to refund upon arrival of the merchandise.
1-) The postage to the address in China is more or as expensive as the item I paid for. 2-) There is no guarantee that I will receive my refund after spending twice the same amount. Called PayPal Customer Service and Regretfully PayPal sides with the scammers. WHERE IS THE PAYPAL PROTECTION TO THE CLIENT?. I am shipping to the address that I received it from, a US-based address. However PayPal says it is not acceptable. People are stealing my money in your face PayPal and you are not doing anything.
Shame on you!

Something similar happened to me. I ordered a "2024 New Professional Drone | 8K Camera | 5G | 3-Axis Gimbal | 360° Obstacle Avoidance Technology × 1" and received a crappy drone without a camera and a subpar transmitter. I ended up canceling the dispute because the cost to return was double the cost of the refund.
