Account restricted after name change request

Good Day

I requested a name change so that my PayPal account's name matches that of my bank account. But PayPal has rejected my request and now they've "permanently limited" my account.

I've sent several requests explaining the situation. I've received two responses just saying that "We noticed activity in your account that’s inconsistent with our User Agreementand we no longer offer you PayPal services." And that I wouldn't be allowed to use the platform in future.

I've responded to the emails requesting that they look into my matter, but to no avail.

Any advice, pls?

Was it a fake name or a nickname you had before? Only that would be against paypal rules and may explain the limitation as a paypal account has to be in your legal name.

Hi

No, it's not a fake name at all. The bank account is on my married surname and the PayPal account was on my maiden surname. I even sent the paperwork to prove it. They rejected it.

I don't know what more to do. I've messaged twice again, but no response.

If you uploaded a marriage certificate showing the name change from the one on your paypal account to your new one then appeal?

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a private direct message via Social Media on Facebook, Twitter/X, or Instagram pages.

I have sent them the marriage certificate twice, and messaged them as well. I got two messages back saying, in a nutshell, that their decision is final and they don't need to give me reasons.

I don't know what more to do.

They also said I can't close the account and reopen under a new name.

I've since sent three messages, no reply.

I'm appalled at this service.

There must be other reasons then for the limitation apart from a simple name change.

If their decision is final then nothing else I can advise unfortunately.

It’s very strange. Thanks for your time. There really is nothing else that I’m aware of.
