Account limited/Refund to debit card.

Greetings.

I recently made a purchase using G2G and the seller authorised a cancellation request. Upon returning to Paypal I was greeted with 'Account Limited'. I funded the payment with my Debit card (Not through Paypal - even though it seems to reflect activity, which I find odd) I have since received the refund or rather it's saying +£658 but it has not reflected in my Bank account. I understand that refunds can take up to a few days to a week and the purchase was on the 23rd. My question is:

As the purchase was made with my Debit card and not through Paypal will the refund still go through to my Card regardless of limitation? I suffer from Severe Social/General anxiety as such I have never gone out to get Photo ID. I have Birth Certificate (which apparently does not constitute proof of identity.) I could get a bank statement and I have NHS letters showing proof of address.

This is quite irritating given the situation. I just need to know whether or not the funds will still reflect in my bank account as purchase was via card. Appreciate it. And does the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) not protect from needing to upload License/ID. I thought that was a USA Title act III thing.

Thanks for your time.

If you funded the original payment to the seller from your bank account or a card then once marked refunded/completed it will automatically go back to that bank account or card.
Normally it can take a few days up to a week to go back to a bank account and a bit longer for a card, Paypal say allow 30 days for a card (1 billing cycle) but its rarely that long.
(Can vary according to country though).

Proof of identity
The following is a list of acceptable documents you may provide:

  • Government issued ID, such as a driver's license or passport
  • Employment authorization card
  • Permanent resident card
