Account Limitation - help

Good afternoon all, Recently I tried to update my name change on my PayPal account by providing my new legal documents and I was hit by a permanent account limitation on my account. I have been a member of PayPal since 2005 and have used it ever since. I had called the customer service and explained the situation and the customer service representative explained to me because I had opened my account in 2005 which I was 16 at the time - bare in mind she explained to me back then there was no age limit on opening a PayPal account and since then laws have changed. Now the laws have changed my account has been permanently restricted.. Is there a way I can appeal this since I’ve had the account for 19 years and as explained to me when I had opened the account the age restriction was not in place so why should I be penalised?

Did they advise you to open a new account now you are over 18?

Thanks for the reply, Yes they did indeed. Annoyingly I still have an outstanding PayPal credit I have to pay - which was mentioned im abke to still pay it off. It’s more of a sentimental thing if I’m honest. But surely I shouldn’t be penalised on the whole situation that laws changed after opening my account .

Well I have been on paypal since 2001 and its always been 18 to open a paypal account in the UK.

In the U.S I believe it differed at one point as there were 'minor accounts' that parents could open but that stopped after a few years.
