Hi,
22 Subscriptions were cancelled in a matter of 90 minutes. I have been selling Paypal subscriptions from my site www.gmpsop.com , for over 12 years now.
I haven't seen such a bizarre situation until now. Today, between 12:17 pm and 01:50 pm AEST, 22 subscriptions were cancelled. Typically, my site subscribers are located around the world. Each month, some new subscriptions occur while some leave at the same time. Thus I have a net positive number of subscribers each month, and this way, the subscribers numbers have been growing ever since. Albeit slowly.
However, I have never seen such a phenomenon where so many subscribers have cancelled Paypal subscriptions in such a short window literally 01 in every 2/3 minutes synchronously.
Can someone please explain if PayPal sends any warnings to my customers behind my back? Or there is other foul play involved in this such as hacked account. No money being transferred.
BTW. my site is up and running during this time. No one has sent any complaint prior to cancelling. I have now changed my Paypal accpoiunt password.
Any suggestion will be appreciated.

The same happened to me at 2:30am (UK) 34 cancellations in about 30 minutes... not my website or service provider (I checked) they said its something to do with PayPal's IPN and they need to investigate the root cause.

Thanks for sharing all of your situations which are alike. It is a little comfort to know that it was not us. Rather, there was wide-scale technical issues happening at the Paypal side. I am coping with the losses from cancellations that I don't think PayPal will agree to compensate. At least they can reinstate those accounts and let the member themselves decide if they want to cancel their subscription when the time will come. Meanwhile, I hope Paypal team will investigate our cause and come back with a reasonable solution. I am not sure how to lodge a complaint directly to Paypal in Australia. The Paypal site constanly push toward FAQ and Community pages. There is not direct pathway to raise this issue in form of a complaint. Does any one from Paypal team really look at our discussion and take action?

I had the same issue, it actually wiped out around 50% of my membership! I've attempted to log an issue in the resolution centre but it just keeps coming up with this message:
I'm so annoyed that as a small business owner paypal have had such a detrimental impact on my business and there doesn't even seem to be any way to contact them about it.

We've got some response from PayPal: "I am so sorry to hear of what is happening. I definitely understand your concern. I am apologetic that I do not have an answer of what is going on but I am glad I was able to get this matter reported to our back end technical support department. They have now been made aware of this issue as I have escalated it this on your behalf. I do not have a timeframe of how long this will take to resolve but I assure you they will be working on this to get the issue resolved as quickly as possible."

We've got the same issue today. Nearly 1000 subscriptions have been wiped out within an hour (2 AM-3 AM UTC). Interestingly, all of them were created from 21 Oct to 21 Nov-23. The earlier ones were not affected. Has anyone here noticed the same? We contacted PayPal Merchant Technical Support immediately but never got a reply.

Has anybody received any technical advice/ resolution from Paypal yet? I have raised this with the Paypal marchent technical resolution team. Just received one acknowledgement. Nothing as part of the resolution! Would they reinstate the cancelled subscription for us? Do they actually know this or care about us? What can we do now. I am at limbo!
