The link IS intended for sending money though. It’ll take sender to your PayPal.me payment page to enter an amount to pay and select payment method & transaction type: friends and family or goods and services.
Someone can scam though. Pay you with the friends and family option to give you a false sense of security, then you get a chargeback for unauthorized transaction some time later. Send an invoice or a buy now/pay now link to ensure your received payment is goods and services, then you’ll have a fighting chance against a PayPal dispute/claim or chargeback. If you’re afraid of hacking, get off the net or just do business with only reputable major retailers.
