Scam: "my son died so I'm giving away his PS5"

Someone is using the address I'm reporting to commit fraud. I have saved all the information regarding what happened but in short someone using a Mandy [removed] account on Facebook (either herself or, according to one of her contacts, someone who hijacked her account) is pretending they're giving away a Playstation 5 because their son passed away and it's breaking their heart to keep it. They asked me to cover the shipping cost with Fedex which was initially supposed to be 71 USD but then turned out to be 171 USD and then they were asking for even more money. Every time they gave me a different friend Paypal address pretending they don't have an account themselves. Here are the addresses they asked me to use, requesting that I use the friends and family option to send it: [removed]  (this address didn't work so maybe you already blocked it), [removed]  (to which I sent 71 USD and wasn't refunded), [removed]  (to which I sent an additional 100 USD but then they refunded me - not sure why, maybe to make it look like I could trust them? - and asked that I send it to this address instead but thankfully I didn't do it:), [removed]  Could you at least block all these Paypal accounts so the scammer cannot use them anymore? Thank you

Hi @josian1979

I am sorry to hear what has happened to you. Its a shame that the payments were sent as family and friends as if it was sent as a good or services payment we could help you get your money back. I would send all of the email addresses to spoof@paypal.com and explain what happened. They will be able to have a closer look at the accounts for you.

I hope this helps,

Paula
