Does PayPal send confirmation emails to confirm pending payment?

Regarding your question, yes. PayPal does send an email confirmation when a payment status is 'Pending'. If you are ever in doubt as to whether a message is a legitimate PayPal message or not, you can just log in to your account and check your account Activity.
