Can I still receive an IPN if the order's payee email is custom?

In the PayPal API, you can create an order with a custom payee. Wondering if there's still an ability for it to send a IPN for the account that made the order request, not the payee? I guess if not, should just do a "Continue" payment and then process it on that end instead of an instant redirect to success as you'd expect with "Pay Now" Thanks
