Passing local currency (ZAR) to paypal to be converted to USD

Hi,

I am integrating with paypal using smart button code, and have the below problem.

My buyers are based in South Africa (ZAR), and when they choose PayPal to make the payment, which accepts USD and EUR, how do I tell PayPal to convert the currency? Or should I be converting it myself before passing on to PayPal ?
