Download/export transaction history

I am kind of flabbergasted that there is no way I can find to download the transaction details from the previous month/quarter into a csv file.  All I can get is the summary, but is it true that there is no where to access this information so that I can export it into a spreadsheet?  I need to track individual orders so that I can predict inventory for the coming month and entering each order by hand is a nightmare.  It would also be awfully nice to use the transaction details as a customer invoice. Any ideas?

Oh I pray this is not so.  I wanted to be able to download so I could put into Quicken.  As a business account, it seems this would be essential to have a way to get the data out of PayPal into various software used for tracking and management.  My PayPal account is basically just like another bank account.  My PayPal account/debit card is connected to my business bank account.  As I use PayPal more it sure would be nice not to be manually inputting all my transactions from PayPal into Quicken.

PayPal should be providing all the same export/download features that a bank account does.  That means all possible formats CSV, Quicken, Quickbooks, OFX, etc.

Where do we put a request into PayPal concerning these features?

Okay, so apparently you can make a feature request here: Merchant Technical Support

But there is no guarantee how long it will take or even if they'll do it.  Looking through these forums, I see that this problem plagues a lot of users and has for quite some time.  The basic gist is that only the Transaction History is downloadable as a csv file...NOT the details of the individual transactions.  I find this ludicrous.  I don't want to know just that someone bought something from me on some random date and paid a total of $X.  I want to know how many items they bought, exactly what they were and how much of their payment went to each item/taxes/shipping.

Make the request!  Maybe if we start shouting loudly enough SOMEONE at paypal will start to listen!

Not only that, Previously you could download your  transaction history on the spot, Now they makee you wait for some stupid reason, And then it hardly ever works.

I have 3 reports that are supposedly ready to download but when I try to download them I get some generic error

If you were making a purchase or sending money, we recommend that you check both your PayPal account and your email for a transaction confirmation after 30 minutes.

If you came to this page from another website, please return to that site (don't use your browser's Back button) and restart your activity.

If you came from PayPal's website, click the PayPal logo in the upper-left corner to return to our home page and restart your activity. You might have to log in again.

which has nothing to actually do with downloading a log file.

Plus There is ABAOLUTELY no way of contacting ANYONE from paypal.

Paypal, your service **bleep**

Here is the response I got on this question...

PayPal, an eBay Company

Here’s how to see your transaction history:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click “History.”

To see your most recent activity or find a specific transaction, click
the links near the top of the page.

You can download your transaction history into Quicken, QuickBooks, or
into a spreadsheet application. From the 'History' page, you can
download your account's History log:

  1. Click "Download History," which appears in the "More" drop-down
list.
  2. Choose the date range of transactions you'd like to download and
select the file type you want to save your History as.
  3. Click "Download History."

If you have a Premier or Business account, you can choose which
information to include in your transaction history log. Here’s how to
customize your transaction history log:

  1. Click “Download History,” from the “More” drop-down list.
  2. Click “Customize Download Fields (not available for PDF)”
  3. Click the information you want to download, then click “Save.”

Note:

   * When downloading a large History Log, you may experience a delay.
   * We will email you when your file is ready to be downloaded.
   * When it is ready you can view the file by clicking 'Recently
Downloaded Logs' on the 'Download History' page.
   * We save the last 3 most recently completed, large History Log
files.
   * Small logs are downloaded immediately and are not saved.
   * If you use QuickBooks, go to
http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/Articles/HOW12964 for
instructions on how to download your transaction history directly into
QuickBooks.

Sincerely,
Sarah
