Activity (including balance and fees) Page

Hi, there has been a change to a page we use regularly. From the home page, we go to "Recent Activity" then click "Activity (includin balance and fees)" and this gives us a helpful page that we use in our accounting. However, a column called "Actions" with options like "Print postage label" seems to have replaced the running balance column that is usually there. I can't find a way to restore the page to the helpful balance sheet we usually use.

Is this something anyone else has noticed?

Hopefully someone can help? Many thanks.

Yes lots of people have the same problem. I've been on at them for a week now about this, they closed my CS tickets!!! They are beyond useless, for what we pay in fees they are an absolute disgrace.

Keep bumping your question, and any others like it, until they get off their backsides and sort it!

Same here! It is infuriating they change these things we rely on. I am so close to taking my business and £1000's in fees somewhere else!

I have already warned them I will be withdrawing my £2k+ balance if they don't get this sorted, and to date, they have not sorted this. Their loss.

I open a new ticket on this, every time I have to balance my books.  It is wrong and stupid and will never stop being wrong and stupid.  They need to fix it.

Thanks for your messages guys. After 2 days of messaging with PayPal (and having to ask them to actually read my message as the first reply wasn't related to what I'd asked at all), I know that we now have to go to Activity > All Reports > Statements and download the CSV file which I then have to spend time editing so that it shows what we need.

Very annoying when it used to just take a couple of clicks and print. Especially as the page we used to use still says "Including balance" when it doesn't!

The CSV download has been available for a while, but what most wanted was the retention of the running balance online. The CSV files can take an age to become available, then there's the editing of the fields to do, and it's just not FFP for many, like myself. I really cannot for the life of me understand why they have eradicated the ability to easily & quickly view the running balance in relation to individual transactions.

My last ticket got the reply "The development team removed the running balance due to some issues users were encountering with it. "  Uh, maybe fix the issues?

But I think the "problem" this fixes is people knowing what fees they've been charged.   They don't want you to balance the books, they want you to go "eh  Paypal took some money, whatever it's probably OK".  That's the "issue".  But it is not how accounting works.  Small businesses need to know their expenses.

I certainly agree with you 100%. You shouldn't need to go into your reporting and download a report to see this. Our team is working to ask the reporting team to add the column back.

They mentioned that this isn't at all an attempt to hide any fees as those fees should be clearly showing in the activity page with or without the Balance column, but rather they've had some inconsistencies with the balance showing incorrectly so they opted to remove it. We're asking them to add it back with the resolution in place as you requested.

As a workaround, you can still download the activity report where you'll see the Balance column. Thank you for your patience as I understand that this is a huge inconvenience.

My last ticket got this back.  Progress?  Anyway they're making some of the right noises -- keep the pressure on and maybe we can make this change more trouble than it's worth to them.

Sounds good. Better than the response I got anyway, which was basically... This is how it is now, deal with it.

Fingers crossed we can get it back.
