Wording on Billing Information Page

When users submit their membership form on our website they are taken to PayPal's Billing Information form.  It says:

You need a PayPal account for this purchase and then there are radio buttons for

PayPal I already have a PayPal account

I need to create a PayPal account (where available) - this is ticked by default

If the user leaves it checked and then tries to fill out their debit or credit card details - because that's how they want to pay - they are then told that PayPal already has an account registered to their email address and they must use that.

This is not what we understood the service to be.  I want to use PayPal as the payment gateway to take debit card or credit card or PayPal account payments.

Have you checked your PayPal Account Optional settings from the Website preferences tab in Seller preferences?

Hi

Thanks for responding. The PayPal Account Option button is ticked.  It does say that this feature is available for Buy Now, Donation and Shopping Cart buttons, but not for Subscription buttons.

Do you know how I can find out which type of button we're using (this account was set up years ago so it's all a bit lost in the mists of time!).

Thanks so much for any help.
