No Direct Credit Card Payments With Advanced Checkout?

I'm currently using Payments Pro with the SOAP APIs, and am considering moving to the Advanced Checkout solution (with the REST APIs) since the Fraud Management Filters for Payments Pro are being deprecated.
Browsing through the documentation, though, it appears as if Advanced Checkout lacks the ability to do a direct charge to the user's credit card which Payments Pro had. Is it correct that the most direct flow available for credit card charges is...
1. Create Order
2. Transfer the user over to the completion URL (a PayPal URL) so they can authorize the charge [or, presumably, switch to PayPal as a payment method], before finally
3. Capture the sale details
Is there a more direct method of processing credit card payments using Advanced Checkout which doesn't involve the transfer to the PayPal URL for authorization?
Thanks,
-Pete
