I had a person trying to send me money and they were told they needed to sign up for a pay pal account to send me money. I don't remember that ever being the case. Is this something different. Also, is "pay.me" different from my regular account?

Check your settings:
Go to Account Settings (wheel icon) > Website Payments > Website Preferences > Update > PayPal account optional
PayPal.me is not different from your account. Funds sent to you through that link goes to your PayPal account that it is associated to.
We can have a PayPal.me link each for a personal account or business account. Each of us can open one personal and one business PayPal account simultaneously. The business one can only send goods and services payments while the one for the personal account can send either friends and family payments or goods and services.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
