How do you contribute to a money pool using only the app?

Great question - regrettably, there's no way to contribute to a Money Pool through the mobile app. You'll need to access your account through mobile web to complete this donation.

What is the difference between the mobile app and the mobile web?

The mobile web refers to opening a web page in internet explorer or safari and going to www.paypal.com where as an app is like a mini program that you download from the App Store/Google play store Etc. Apps can sometimes be limited in what they can do. But not always!
