Can't add PayPal Cashback Mastercard to Android Pay

When I try I get an error message saying "This card can't be added to Android Pay". This is weird, because 'PayPal Mastercard' by Synchrony is on the official list of supported cards: https://support.google.com/androidpay/answer/7351835?hl=en&ref_topic=7351519&fl=0

Has anyone else had this problem? I called customer service and after an aggravatingly long and slow conversation their conclusion was "wait a few days and then try again *shrug*". I have a feeling that's not going to do the trick.

Hello, I've had my PayPal Cashback MasterCard setup in my Android Pay for months. The way I did it was get the right Synchrony Bank employee on the phone because they have to do the "behind-the-sceens" stuff manually. It's been great! However, yesterday I got a new phone and when I try to add this card, it states that it isn't supported! Two calls to Synchrony Bank have failed me as it seems as if nobody knows anything about the Android Pay setup process. I've explained that they set me up before, but nothing. A real bummer because I'm so used to using this card everywhere with my Android Pay.

I have the same problem. First I contacted Synchrony support but they could not help me and suggested to contact Google. So I submitted a ticket via Google website (Android Pay) and got confirmation that there is a bug, that prevents adding this card. Google is already "working" on it for 3 weeks without any solution. I ask them once a week about the progress and get a very polite answer back that it depends on the severity of this bug (which I guess is low).  Maybe it helps if others also submit a ticket. I will keep you posted on any progress

How did you submit a ticket? Using the "Send feedback" menu option in the Android Pay app? Please do keep us posted with any progress.

I went to the website below and started a "chat with us" under "Talk to an Expert". After explaining the problem, they created the ticket for me and communicate via email. According to this website, the "send feedback" from the app should work too.

I just got off phone with them. Guy said he'd do something so the card could work and to give it a couple minutes. I did... It didn't

a no-update update 😞

I give up on Google. After poking them for weeks I always got the same reply that "Our specialist is working on it, you will hear from us". I wonder what kind of specialist that is 🙂

Keep poking! This is my most used card and it really bothers me that they still haven't fixed this. You're saying Google has basically confirmed that the problem is on their end, and not with PayPal/Synchrony?

Yeah, the mail from Google (Jan 16th, 2018) is very explicit in this (but I do have my doubts in the specialist 🙂 )

Hi, Ronald.

Thank you so much for your patience on the investigation of your case. I am Arleah, one of the supervisors in Google. I hope you can take my apologies for the delay on this. We just needed the final confirmation from our engineers regarding this issue you are having. Please let me explain your situation now.

Our engineers have already responded, and after investigating the issue with all of the information you have provided, it was confirmed that there's a bug causing the issue on adding PayPal to Android Pay app. Our engineers are already working on how to remove the bug they've found in the system.

I understand that it had already been weeks before a confirmation regarding your situation was provided. But I hope you would understand that our engineers would really need time to investigate the coding on the system and see what is happening there. We will definitely get back to you once we get a new update from our engineers.
If you have any more questions, please reply to this email or let my team call you. We're happy to help!

Thanks,

Arleah
