pay in 4 ?

I was approved for pay in 4 but it rerouted me back to the merchant to complete the checkout, once there I was rerouted back to PayPal again. I do see a temporary pending charge on PayPal but the merchant has no record of the transaction. What did I do wrong?

Thank you for the post and welcome to our community forum!

Sorry for the inconvenience. When making a purchase with Pay in 4, we will conduct a pre-authorization hold on your specified card for an amount equal to the initial down payment or one fourth of your total purchase amount and the same will reflect as pending in your account. 

Once you complete your purchase with Pay in 4 and the merchant ships your goods, the pending authorization will be removed and the initial down payment will be withdrawn from your specified debit or credit card. If you do not complete your Pay in 4 transaction, the pending authorization will be automatically voided by PayPal within 72 hours of the pre-authorization hold.
