client payment declined for possible duplicate transaction

This past weekend I had a client that booked an appointment and I successfully ran his card for $120. He then decided he needed additional time and wanted to book another hour. However, the transaction was declined for security reasons. I was thinking it was possibly because it appeared to be a duplicate transaction and when I work with Authorize.net, they also sometimes decline for appearing to be duplicate and actually gave that as the reason for the decline. Has anyone ran into this and how do I fix it. I tried calling but customer service could only tell me that there were no restrictions on my account.
