Hi everytime i add an amount or select a product from my inventory but, zettle does not automatically add tax. I tried both including and not including tax in prices in the settings but it still does not show any tax added. Does anybody know how can i fix this? I was transferred to 10 agents and and they all keep telling they'll transfer me to a zettle specialist and some don't even know what zettle is. How frustrating

Hi,

An agent from PayPal sent me an answer to my query. Here is what's suggested to do, and it worked for me:

To auto apply the tax percentage to your transactions, please make sure to turn off the include tax in prices option.
Then you will need to login to your Zettle portal at my.zettle.com. Go to the settings located on the bottom left side > Tax settings > check off the box that is under default on the tax settings page. Once the changes are made, the tax will be auto applied in the app.

Hope this helps you too!

Hi @happysunshine,

Thanks for visiting our Community! If you're attempting to checkout by adding a product from your inventory, I first recommend accessing your Zettle account via the website. After logging in there, you'll want to select "Product" and then "Product Library". Whether you're adding a new product or editing an existing item in your product library, you'll see a tax option towards the bottom while editing the specific product. This may work as a temporary fix until a Zettle specialist is able to review the issue further.

I hope this helps!

Hello,

I did a set up on both - my computer and a Samsung pad.

It still doesn't add tax when checking out. Most of our products are one of a kind and they are not pre-set.

I always use manual entry and PayPal here adds a set-up tax. Please refer to my screenshots. How do you activate tax on a purchase ?20211028_155335.jpg20211028_155319.jpg

I log off Zettle app then turned of my cell, then went to settings on your web browser PC, scroll down to tax in price and clicked on exclude standard. Started my cell, relogged in to Zettle app and tested the app by selecting a product and the taxes are separated in the bottom line. This looks like it works for me for how long who knows. Every update changes settings, so you might need to update and recheck you settings.

I figured out a way to add tax in the checkout manually when it does not add automatically.  I did everything in the solution and it still would not automatically add tax.  Here is the manual solution:

1.  In the Zettle app, Add the products you are selling.

2.  Instead of clicking the purple "Charge" button at the bottom, go to the shopping cart in the upper right and click on it.

3.  In the shopping cart, click on each product individually and click on the "Select tax" button.

4.  You can then manually add the tax to the product there and then you can check out your customer.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!!

Well, that doesn't always work. Tried out the new "Saved cart" feature. Plug in the products and voila. There's the value in the Total with all the taxes added. Save the cart. Open the cart to check out the customer and the sales tax is gone. When I try to add the tax manually as you described the sliider is off. When I add the tax, nothing. Same bare value without tax.

I am getting less and less enamored with Zettle. It seems another example of putting the cart before the horse. The tax system is sadly lacking.

Here is my solution, As Zettle applies tax rates on each item when created in the inventory, each item must be edited. On a computer log into your account, create your tax rate. Then go to inventory click export. This will export your entire inventory. Now in excel (or other software) find the column with the desired tax rate. Select the entire column and use find/replace to change "No" to "Yes" . If multiple tax rates are present, make all others say "No" Save file. Now import that inventory to your account. Open app on mobile device, test by adding items to your cart. Desired tax rate (the one you changed to "yes") should be applied automatically as items are added to cart. This will need to be done anytime you change tax rates. Make sure to save a copy of your inventory as a separate file from the one you are editing. Just to be safe. Hope this helps
