Paypal sales from other platforms

When I make a sale through my ArtFire store and the customer uses PayPal, PayPal notifies me of the payment.  I then process the order and fulfill it.  But it seems PP wants me to send an invoice and then create a shipping label.  A little confused as to why I would send an invoice if they have already paid?  Don't want to upset the customer by asking for payment when they have already paid.  Do I have to create an invoice to create a shipping label?  Must I do the shipping through PP or can I directly ship myself through USPS?  Thanks so much.
