Paypal Credit $40 offer - SCAM

I signed up for a Paypal Credit account after I was offered a $40 credit after my first purchase. I made a purchase on the same day, and here I am over half a year later, and I have yet to receive any credit, notification regarding the credit, NOTHING!  I see that I'm not alone in this problem. Since Synchrony Bank owns Paypal Credit accounts, I spoke with them. They told me that they have nothing to do with this and that I have to contact Paypal directly. I've been on hold for 30 minutes so far.  So Paypal, are you going to give me words or a solution? If you begin telling me to look at an email with an offer that was made. I searched all my emails, including my spam, and received nothing. So now what?

Wow! The same thing has happened to me! I've called countless times and nobody, I mean NOBODY at paypal or Synchrony bank has any idea about this promotion, but it was as clear as day when I signed up for Paypal Credit! How could they make an offer for $40 off your first purchase when you open a PP credit account, then nobody in the world has every heard of it! What a RIPOFF!

Never heard of or seen this promotion anywhere.

Seems a lot for any company to offer that much just to open an account.

Think you may have read it wrong as the only one I can see states............

I had the same issue. In addition to not giving the $40 credit off the initial purchase, they charged my debit card on file as well as on the new credit account. I called PayPal and was on a very long hold with a representative that was of no help at all. I just received the run around. He actually suggested that I contact the bank to receive the credit from them instead of Paypal investigating to find that THEY double charged me & THEM notifying the bank. As if the bank would just say, “Ok, we’ll issue you a credit for your purchase….Really? I have made another $35 purchase on the credit account and am seriously considering just closing the PayPal account and not paying them as it would leave me being shorted only $5 by PayPal. I have used PayPal for years without an issue, however their lack of willingness to help resolve this has caused them to lose my business!

Hello @DeannaLA

Thanks for joining the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry to hear you didn't receive the promotion offered in addition to being charged on both your PayPal Credit and your Debit Card. In regards to the promotion, please grab a screenshot of the promotion when reaching out to Customer Support next. You can find a few ways to contact them through our Help Center here. If you haven't tried contacting Customer Support through one of our Social Media channels, I might suggest attempting there. You'll be able to send them the screenshot to review with you right away.

Regarding the fact that you were charged twice for the same payment, I apologize that you were advised to contact your bank. I recommend that you file a Paid By Other Means billing dispute and include a statement from both your PayPal Credit account and your bank that shows you were charged at both places for the same item. You can learn how to file a billing dispute on our Help Center here: How do I report a billing issue?

I hope this information helps you receive a refund for one of the charges!
