PayPal Pay in 4

I payed for a shoe using the Pay Later option with PayPal as it says on the bottom of the purchase receipt. In the end, the full amount was taken out of my bank account instead of the split payments I was supposed to pay Bi-weekly. Now I’ve taken a massive blow in my account balance all because “Pay Later” 2 meant “pay it all now”. I need my money back for the 3 upcoming payments. Only around 108 dollars should’ve been taken out as the first payment ( as PayPal instructed). If I were paying for it bi-weekly I would have no problem splitting it into 4 separate payments of the 108, but it just took it all at once. Again, you guys can charge me for the payment regarding the first 2 weeks as was promised. You guys cannot charge me in full that was clearly not what I chose as a payment method. Thank You.

They message you about this yet? They just did the same thing to me. The whole transaction went through as if all was well for "pay in 4", then after check out was completed PayPal actually took the full amount. If we weren't eligible then fine, but a warning before you decide to pull the ENTIRE amount from my bank account would of been nice.

Hello @FamJum and @Nova395

Welcome to the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry to hear you both had the full amount debited rather than the first installment of the Pay in 4 option. If you see both the full payment and the first installment, then the full amount is likely a pending authorization that will drop off within a few days. However, from what you've both mentioned, it sounds like you only see the full amount. If the Security System determines that there's a higher-than-average risk found, it can limit what payment methods are available. If that's the case, though, you shouldn't see the Pay in 4 option at all during the checkout process. I suggest reaching out to Customer Support to investigate what happened with your transactions and help determine what next steps need to be made. You can reach Customer Support by selecting 'Contact' at the bottom of the PayPal webpage.

I hope that you're both able to find out what happened and receive a refund/correction if possible!
