PayPal Credit zero Interest

All of a sudden, eBay auctions are requiring immediately pay at auction end. When I enter PayPal credit to pay - it takes me to PayPal but I can’t choose PayPal credit for zero interest as a payment method. The only options are credit cards or bank accounts. Is PayPal ending their zero interest offers? Or, is this a matter of eBay & PayPal not playing nice together anymore?

Hello @429freckles

Thanks for visiting the PayPal Community, and congrats on your first post!

I'm sorry to hear that you were unable to use your PayPal Credit on a recent eBay purchase. As far as I am aware, eBay still offers PayPal Credit as an available payment method. This leads me to believe it may not have been offered for just that one purchase due to eBay or PayPal's Security System.

When it comes to PayPal's Security System, it reviews all transactions that take place, and if a higher-than-average risk is found, it could limit what payment t methods are available. To help combat this, I always recommend ensuring you're logging in from one consistent device with your location services turned on. If you ever encounter an error, clearing your cache and cookies or even restarting your internet can also help.

In addition to either of the Security Systems, it could also be a denied payment by PayPal Credit for a variety of reasons. To get to the bottom of what happened, I suggest reaching out to PayPal's Customer Support. They'll be able to look into it from one perspective and then be able to guide you in the right direction if it wasn't PayPal's Security System.

I hope this information helps you get to the bottom of what happened!

I am able to use PayPal credit for eBay “buy it now” purchases. What I can’t use it on is eBay’s new “automatic checkout” on auctions. I think I must have been chosen as one of their “test” cases. Anyway, I can’t bid on auctions without providing payment information BEFORE I bid. The link to PayPal for the automatic checkout on PayPal’s side of the process doesn’t give me the option to choose PayPal credit — just a credit card or bank account that I have on file. I did use PayPal on the auction that I won. Payment was instant, meaning a I didn’t have to do a thing to initiate the payment because I had to do that before I could bid. I didn’t have the ability to change payment methods at the auctions end. Payment was by a credit card that I had on file with PayPal. I absolutely missed the opportunity to use PayPal’s zero interest credit terms. Sad for me…good for eBay sellers (I guess) I don’t know that there is a fix for this. Paypal Credit is already my preferred payment method. It’s just a problem when automatic checkout is mandated & apparently auction that I bid on now requires automatic checkout.
