PayPal Business Debit Card is removing backup bank account funding

I am not sure I am posting this in the correct location but we just received an email from PayPal informing us that starting September 12th the backup funding from our bank account to our PayPal Business Debit Card function is going to be removed from ALL PayPal accounts. I called and spoke with a wonderful customer service rep Lori who spoke with her supervisor (and they had to speak with their supervisor). Apparently no one had informed them of this major change in PayPal business account functions.

We really rely on this benefit as we are fully self-employed with three businesses and live in a very rural area. The Debit Card backup funding gives us the peace of mind to know our accounts are running smoothly and we don't have to constantly check balances. Ours is a perishable product business and our sales are cyclical on a weekly basis, we don't have customers making purchases every day of the week.

Bottom line: booooooo to PayPal!! You just made our businesses HARDER to run on a day-to-day basis despite your claim in that very email stating your "ongoing focus on helping your business to thrive". I imagine there will be a lot of folks shopping around for other options since PayPal thinks it is fine to cut major functional benefits to their customers with no information or basis in doing so.

I am no longer going to use PayPal as a result of the cessation of the Auto Top Up feature. Whoever decided to do this at PayPal should be fired immediately. That's like me having to deposit money with American Express every time I use the card!! Totally insane! If you people think we have time to go to our bank accounts, send money to paypal and the pay for groceries every single time we use the card, you are sadly mistaken. This is an obvious money grab to lure in your customers to deposit money into YOUR accounts that YOU will use to make money for YOURSELVES, just so we can have the privilege of using PayPall?? I can't wait to see how fast your stock drops when you report loosing MILLIONS of customers!! As always, there is no shortage of GREED and no shortage of STUPID! BYE-BYE!!!

Does anybody have an alternative company? Privacy(d0t)com; has virtual cards that work similar but the physical card was so useful.

I haven't swiped a non-paypal card in so long that it's ridiculous. Now what's the point in even having my paypal debit card, so I can move money, wait for it to get there, then spend my money? Paypal needs to bring this feature back and fire the person that thought this would help anyone.

Not to mention that it takes up to five days to transfer money from your bank account. Why would you want to there was just articles released that it’s a risk holding money there they’re not FDIC insured and if they go under you’ve lost it I canceled my car this morning. I have a couple refund supposed to come back on it. I don’t know how that will be handled, but at this point, I really don’t care.

It should’ve been obvious when eBay ended their relationship that changes were coming.

Not to mention, I took the day off of work today, so I could stop anything else from not being paid, to update the different card. PayPal sends an email that a charge wasn’t paid but yet they don’t tell you to who so I have no idea what transaction wasn’t paid.

Did anyone have another option other than PayPal that had a debit card that's linked to your bank account?

Privacy dot com has virtual cards you can link to your bank account. I'm working on moving all my automatic payments over to them today. The only issue is that the virtual numbers lock to the first merchant that they are used with, so you can't use the same number at multiple merchants. (The free plan allows up to 10 new cards a month, the Pro up to 36 new cards a month, and gives you cash back. It does cost $10/mo tho.)

I like to use "scan and go" services using my phone at merchants, so I setup a virtual card at privacy dot com for each vendor. I travel alot and don't like to carry my actual bank card with me in case it gets compromised. I just moved the majority of those "scan and go" merchants over to the new virtual cards.

I think this will do me just fine!
