Pay In 3 Refunds?

I used the Pay in 3 option this morning for some car parts. Stupidly I realized that I'd ordered for the wrong side of the car so I contacted the seller asking them to change the order, they advised it was impossible and that I'd have to cancel the order and re-order, they will refund within 5 days.
I'd like to think this is a magical automated system and that as soon as Paypal receive the refund they'll refund my first payment to my debit card then automatically cancel the plan.
Is it that easy or do I need to contact them?

Hello @naaktgeboren,
Welcome to PayPal Community Forum and thank you for posting!
I understand your concern about the Pay in 3 refund. If PayPal paid the merchant for your Pay in 3 purchase, the merchant would refund the Pay in 3 loan, in full or partial. If the refund satisfies the entire outstanding balance on the Pay in 3 loan, you will not have any further repayment obligations. Please check your PayPal Pay in 3 loan details in the wallet to ensure that the loan balance is marked as Completed. If the refund results in a Credit Balance Refund (an overpayment of the Pay in 3 loan), your credit balance will be moved to your PayPal balance automatically. Here's the link to some of the FAQs to know. If you need any help, please reach out to our customer support team through the available contact options on our website.
Regards,
Ayesha
