I was approved for a 4 pay and when I returned back to the retailer to complete the purchase it froze up and I was not able to complete the transaction. Since then I have not be given the option to use 4-pay. I've been using it for a very long time and never had any issues. I confirmed my purchases are eligible for 4-pay, Both the stores, and the transaction amount, and I'm also eligible for 4 pay but do not get the option since that transaction. I finally found out that the transaction was flagged as a security issue and was basically told there was no way to resolve it. I've seen other people post about a similar issue, has anyone ever had this issue and had it resolved? if so how? PayPal Customer service has not been helpful.

Hello @rtazie,
Welcome to the PayPal Community; thanks for visiting!
I understand your ability to use Pay in 4 is no longer showing, and I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Typically, if the option is later declined, it'll show back up in around 30 days. However, it can be different for everyone. You can learn more about Pay in 4 applications and what to do to improve approval rates on our Help Center.
From what you've mentioned, it sounds like you were initially approved, so that leads me to believe our Security System determined that the Pay in 4 option wasn't an eligible payment method. The PayPal Security System reviews each transaction when it takes place, and if it determines there's higher than average risk, it can limit what payment methods are available. This includes the Pay Later options.
To help with this, I recommend always logging in from one consistent device with your location services turned on. After making one attempt, if your preferred payment method isn't showing, you might be able to reach out to Customer Support to see if additional verification can be passed to allow it to be used.
I hope this helps, and you can use Pay in 4 again soon!
- Meghan

Made an account just to say that is the most bureaucratic, infuriating thing. Please tell your bosses to do better.

I'm a different user with the same issues as OP. Had Pay in 4 as an option, then the popup window for it basically went into 'forever loading', and when I tried refreshing it, the option had vanished.
30 days seems like an awfully long wait for something that wasn't even the fault of the end user. Not to mention a complete and utter lack of any feedback on the issue, or anything to even inform us of the issue in the first place. If the system flags it as a security risk, why am I not emailed about it? Why can't I log into my profile and see the exact status of my account even when it is in good standing?
Let me make one thing clear: I am not upset with you Meghan - you are wonderful for having addressed this at all, and I think I share the sentiment of OP and many others in that our frustration is directed at the system, not individuals such as yourself. 🙂
All the same, having looked at earlier posts in other topics, this appears to be a common issue even as far back as 2022. Is the 30-day thing a certainty? I'd hate to think I lost the option forever because of some systemic process I'm neither privy to, nor can have any assistance with resolving.
