New blue tooth card reader won't connect

My little triangular "swiper" finally gave out so I ordered the new chip/slider device and my PayPal Here account won't connect.  I've upgraded the app, my phone software is IOS 15.6.1 (above 9 as they requested), my bluetooth is on and not connected to anything else and the device is fully charge with red and blue light on.  The video showed that the blue tooth device will  pop up as "Pay Pal "with some numbers following" but it never pop like that.  It is giving me numbers/letters 40-BK######.  It keeps saying "Sorry we couldn't find any available card readers". Help?  It has been days of trying, did I get a "bum" device?

Hey there @PACdance

First of all, welcome to the PayPal Community Forum and thank you for your post!

I understand you are having some difficulty pairing your PayPal Here device to your iPhone. For steps on how to pair your device, see: How to Use PayPal Card Reader | PayPal

However, PayPal Here is no longer available to buy as we have moved to Zettle card readers. This may be the reason you cannot pair your device with a new phone.

To sign up to Zettle using your PayPal:

1.  Login to PayPal using our website:  https://www.paypal.com/uk/signin

2.  Select 'App Centre' at the top of your page.

3. Select 'All Apps'

4. In the search bar type 'Point of Sale'

Here is where you can sign up for Zettle.

Otherwise,

Please use the below link to find out more about iZettle and please don't hesitate to reach out to them directly in order to receive further assistance if required.

Zettle: accept card payments in person (paypal.com) & Zettle by Paypal (former iZettle) | POS & payment solutions

Thank you!
