Is PayPal scamming us with the Pay in 4 option?

I was purchasing some chair covers online. I saw that it offered Pay in 4 option via PayPal but they charged me the whole amount, and my mortgage comes out tomorrow. Can i seek reimbursement from them from taking an amount I didn’t authorise. I hate that they are taking the control away from the individual to manage their finances responsibly. I engaged the Pay in 4 option so I could still make the purchase and my mortgage. If they are just taking the whole amount as they see fit surely this can’t be legal.

I even screen shot the options for all payment and receipt type things (so plenty of evidence) that i selected Pay in 4. I reached out to seller and apologised and said i have to cancel and get refund so i can pay my mortgage and they reluctantly returned the money and said that the issue is with PayPal. They seem feed up with offering PayPal as a payment option. Perhaps for this reason.

What can i do if my mortgage defaults and it impacts my credit score. It’s not my fault or problem and I will want them to restore my credit profile and my money and I have plenary of screen shots. I had used it before and been fine, but now in reading through some blogs and reviews I hear they are advertising the option and then charging full amounts depending on whether they like your credit algorithm. Anyone have any ideas where to start to get my money back fast before my mortgage comes out in 6 hours. And if they don’t how can i seek assistance for them to restore my credit score and mortgage default fees, I’m not coping a life of pain on their negligent practices.
