I've missed paypal pay in 3 payments - will my paypal account be restricted?

I was having some personal issues midway through about £2000 of pay in 3, I called paypal who gave me a 'breathing space option. which pushed things back a month. I called and asked for some extra help and they simply stopped the direct debit and said I can pay in my own time. This seems a little good to be true - they said I can pay over the next 4-5 months in installments. I called again today and they said it 'may' impact my credit file and 'may' restrict my use of paypal generally - but could be specific. Does anyone else have a similar experience or shed any light on how paying off a debt to paypal over the phone works?

Hello @Temp20230709,
Welcome to the PayPal Community Forum! I'm sorry to hear you've run into some speed-bumps with a recent Pay in 3 repayment. I can certainly understand how financial situations can change suddenly. Unfortunately, once your Pay in 3 loan is agreed upon and your repayments begin, the repayments cannot be paused, suspended, or skipped. If a repayment is missed, it can cause your account to become past due. You may receive an automated phone call, reminding you of your past due balance and informing you of how you can make your repayment. Missed repayments may impact future eligibility for Pay Later products.
Ultimately, if a payment does become overdue, our collections and support teams can work with you to find the best option available.
Best wishes and good luck with this and future transactions through PayPal,
- Jon K
