Gift card help

I purchased a Google play card from PayPal. The email to the recipient has failed to reach her twice. I'm not sure if it's because she has AOL (yes, AOL) or what. PayPal tells me to talk to Google because it's their product even though it was bought through PayPal gifts. Google is telling me that they cannot help because the item was purchased through PayPal gifts and the vendor is PayPal. I cannot get a supervisor to step in and help and so for right now, my money is is digital limbo. Anybody has experience with this subject?
