PayPal fees make no sense ?

Why, oh why would PayPal fees be proportionate to the transaction amount? The fees are extortionate. Surely it should relatively flat and/or at least capped. So frustrating being ripped off

That’s how it’s always been. A variable % portion and a fixed rate portion. It’s still cheaper than bank wire transfer. You can get a cheaper rate by getting a merchant account for businesses transactions. Otherwise, these prices are for payment processing at the retail consumer level.
