sent money to wrond address

hi....I sent money to a man I know to pay for a partybus, the email I used it an old one though I didn't know that at the time.....looks like the money has been sent, can I get it back to pay to correct email address.....I don't know what else to do. any advice???

So can you say what it says next to the transaction in your Paypal account.
1. Pending / Unclaimed.
2. Pending / Unclaimed with a cancel option.
3. Completed / Sent.
4. Pending / Uncleared.
5. Pending awaiting authorisation.

it says MONEY SENT, but the guy I know says that account has been dead for about a year

How did you send the payment ie which option.

How did you fund the payment ie which funding source.

hi.im not sure I know what you  mean...all my payments come off my visa debit card...the only option I ever use...so then it comes out of my bank account, it doesn't show til the next day I'm sure on my statement.  it hasn't shown today

Is it marked as sent / completed or unclaimed?

If unclaimed is there a cancel option?

Does the person that you sent the funds to still 'own' that email address, if so they can 'add' it to their paypal account and the funds come with it......you can have up to 8 email addresses on the 1 Paypal account.

If not and its completed then you can open a dispute for non receipt of item (as that person has nothing to send you) and hopefully they may refund you and if not escalate to a claim.

How did you send the payment only if it was friends / family then you would not be able to open a dispute and may have lost those funds. If so then if you FUNDED the payment via a credit card then your card issuer may help.
