payment pending

I have recently sold an iphone 7, and I have been contacted by the buyer stating that the payment has been sent. I received an email saying that the payment would not be transferred in to my paypal account until a tracking number had been confirmed by the  postal company. I have checked the transaction ID, but I cant find it anywhere in paypal.can someone give me some advice please.

Scam. If you do not see payment fairly instantly even if payment is subject to PayPal 's 21 days funds availability hold, then you have no been paid. PayPal does not ask you to ship before you see payment in your account. If you also do not also receive a PayPal payment confirmation from PayPal, that is also a tell-tale clue it may be a scam. Buyers generally don't need to send you a message saying you paid because PayPal already contacts you. Some scammers send you fake PayPal confirmation emails if they ask for your name and paypal email address before "paying".

You can call customer service to see if that transaction ID is valid and is supposed to be going to your paypal account. If scammer still email you, tell them "sorry, I still don't see payment and is calling PayPal to verify", they'll leave you alone.
