marking paid invoices with zero balances

Up until about a month ago, I was able to mark off a zero balance invoice (for samples or something sent) - but now when I go to "mark as paid" it says the amount must be more than zero.  How do I mark zero balance invoices as paid??

Click "Record Payment" from the actions menu for the invoice in Manage Invoices page. Enter the info on the dialogue box, hit Record Payment button.
