if you sent payment to wrong person and ask them to decline what do you do if they do not respond

i Accidentally paid someone other than the company i thought i was

i have sent an email asking that person to decline payment

what happens if they dont respond

Depends how you sent the payment, did you send it using goods/services or friends/family?

I did use the goods and services and spoke with PayPal they sent notification to the person as well and said that if they don’t respond by September 24 that PayPal will make good on it… And I talk to another person that said likely someone intentionally set up a PayPal account similar to the one from the company I was trying to send you… that was very similar to the one I thought I was sending it to in hopes that people would make a mistake like I did which was just left off a co.com after the company name
