I recently won an auction on ebay from a euro seller, I'm in the uk. The price quoted on the e bay order was 1550 euros converting to £1345.92 pounds. However, the fee showing on my pay pal account came to £1395 (uk pounds) a plus of some £50. The exchange rate varied little over the days leading up to and on the day of the sale. I'm unable to understand the discrepancy which appears to be caused by a very much lower exchange rate with no additional fees showing on the order. Is there some unfavourable exchange rate in play when purchasing euro to the uk ?
