Hi there, I ‘sold’ a MacBook Air on eBay today, buyer said he had paid, I found the confirmation in my junkmail from PayPal...email address was <remove> Is this genuine? I have NOT received the payment and there’s a link to email the tracking number before the money will be sent. It’s £500...I’m not going to send it without payment! Can anyone advise?

Its a scam. That is not a genuine PayPal email address. PayPal also does not provide a link in an email for you to submit tracking information. It has to be submitted manually into an actual record of payment in your PayPal account preferably when you use PayPal's Print Shipping Label option in the payment details so the tracking number automatically gets uploaded to the transaction.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Did you read the first 3 words of @sharpiemarker post ITS A SCAM.
SCAM.
They encourage you to accept a 'direct' Paypal payment and may ask you to send the item internationally.
No funds or activity of the transaction shows in your Paypal account and any emails 'may' go into your junk/spam folders.
You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't because they don't actually have a Paypal account and have no intention of paying you.
It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.
They will tell you that the payment is released when you provide paypal with a tracking/shipping number......this won't happen.
Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.
Paypal do not tell you to send trackable, they advise it for selling protection but it is not compulsory.
Delete any emails and ignore the scammers.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
