In order to use this protection thing will it be okay if I just purchased through PayPal via my credit card, I don't want to add any money to my PayPal account so tell me if this is possible to still get the protection, thank you.

Yep, most folks fund their paypal purchases directly via their funding sources ie bank accounts or cards.
