Normally you would pay a fee if you funded your friends / family payment via a credit card but of course you can use it as a funding source if you want to.
It would depend on what country you are in as to whether the friends / family option is available OR whether its free funded from a bank account / debit card or funds in your balance and as you have not said where you are located can't advise anymore really.
