When costumers pay via my subscribe payment button do they have to create a PayPal account?

Hi community!
I am in the process of creating a website which has a memberships only area.
Members will have to subscribe/pay in order to get access to membership only area.
I have created a sales page with a PayPal Button for Subscription (I want members to get billed every 12 months, so a yearly subscription).
I am currently doing some testing and I noticed that new costumers who subscribe/pay for the first time must create a PayPal account.
Is there a way in which new costumers don't have to create a PayPal account? And just have to fill out their debit/credit card details?
I know that with a Buy Now Button (one-off payment) costumers don't necessarily have to sign up for PayPal.
Thanks for your help!
