I received an email from PayPal tgat said inside. ” Your PayPal account has been temporarily restricted”. You were recently asked to take an action on your account and it looks like we didn't receive a requested response. Why is your account restricted? We have found suspicious activity on the credit card linked to your PayPal account. You must confirm your identity to confirm that you are the owner of the credit card. To maintain account security, please provide documents confirming your identity. We've also imposed temporary limits on certain features on your PayPal account. At this time, you will not be able to: Receive payments Send payment Withdraw funds What to do now? Login to your PayPal account and perform the required steps. Login to PayPal Next? Once you have completed the requested task, we will review the account and contact you regarding its status within 5 business days. Thank you for your attention to this matter. The email said pay pal but when I clicked the name it had an email that didn’t seem to be pay pal . I wanted to include the email in the message but this site would not allow it. That knly makes it more difficult to determine what or who this email was from and only protects those that may be a fraud or worse. Me: I did not want to log into the pay pal site from this email. What is this?

If its a spoof then NEVER USE ANY LINK OR ANY PHONE NUMBER.

Firstly if the email/text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email/text to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

Also if they ask you to call the number in the email then it would be fake paypal agents trying to scam you for money to 'fix' something.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email / download an attachment OR phone them on a number in an email, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.
