Unauthorised payment

Hello, I was hoping for some help. On the 32st of October eBay took £72.34 out of my bank account. I hadn’t bought anything or sold anything to this value and the payment was totally unauthorised by me. It said on my paypal statement “pre authorised payment” - which it wasn’t as I wouldn’t just give them money for no reason. As I say, I haven’t bought anything and haven’t sold anything to this value ( even if you added up everything I’ve sold in years ) PayPal have just replied with a very automated rejection but haven’t told me what this payment is all about and I have no idea as I haven’t authorised this money to be taken. It’s theft and I don’t know what to do. Thanks

Sorry, it was meant to say the 31st. eBay have advised the payment shouldn’t have been taken and somehow my Paypal was used on someone Else’s eBay account & Paypal should refund me. I’ve tried to call Paypal but get no answer after 30 minutes of holding and when they respond to email it’s just templated replies offering no help on how to get my money back that they shouldn’t have taken in the first place. So they have taken my money , admitted they shouldn’t have taken it but not giving it back
