Unable to receive payment for Ebay goods sold

I have sold an item on eBay and the buyer is unable to pay because I apparently have a pending transaction with PayPal. I have checked my activity and have nothing pending, can anyone suggest anything to help please?

I do not see how you having a pending payment already would be communicated to eBay. 

But, it could be that the buyer has sent payment and it appears pending on their side. This would mean there is an issue with the email address used in the transaction. If it was sent to an email address that was not registered to your PayPal account or to another account that it has not been confirmed. 

In this case, I would double check with eBay to see which PayPal email address the payment was sent to, so they can resolve the issue.
