I have my bank account tied to my paypal account however when I try to send money to a friend it doesn't come up as payment type. The banking account is the only item tied to my paypal account.

In some cases, we will require a backup funding source, such as a debit/credit card to be added to your PayPal account. This backup payment method will be used if your bank funded transaction fails. I'm afraid we have no option to change this request if it is required on your account.
