Hi, I made a purchase that I needed to get a refun from. I made the purchase through paypal but the money came from my bank account. Now when they refunded it, it went into my paypal cash then automatically transferred to my bank account. I was curious if there is a way to cancel the transfer back to the bank account and just keep it in my paypal balance?

No. Bank payment refunds used to go back to your balance, but not anymore. Issued refunds go back to original payment source including bank accounts the funds came from.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
