Receiving payment

I have a payment pending from a person in the US, I live in Canada and was expecting the funds to be sent in US. It looks like PayPal is converting the funds to Canadian. Is there a way to receive the funds in US dollars? I do have a US bank account that I can link to my account.

Have you added USD as a receiving currency on your paypal account?

Even if you have if you want to withdraw those funds they will be changed to CAD first.

I am not certain how to do that. If they convert it to Canadian there is no point anyway. Thank you
